I’m a fan of both authors and their respective dystopian takes on the trajectory of human society. I think there was a period where the world took on a more Orwellian tint, one thinks of the way the Chinese or the Soviets did it (and still do), using force, banning access to information and propagating state sanctioned disinformation. But definitely in the last 20 or so years in the western “democratic” societies things have gone much more the way of Brave New World. People are far too consumed by choice (in things of no real consequence) and information overload to look into what’s really going in the world.

Great post! Thanks for sharing 🙂

  2. In the U.S., it’s by far Huxley. The perception of being overloaded by choice reminds of “The Paradox of Choice: Why More is Less” by Barry Schwartz. It’s sad to think about society as a whole, but that’s what internet distractions are for! (much like this post, so thanks!) 😛
