Wild West Con 2

Wild Wild West Steampunk Convention II

Come join the adventure March 8-10, 2013 as we journey into the age of steam at Old Tucson!

What is Wild Wild West Steampunk Convention II?

Wild Wild West Steampunk Convention II is Arizona’s first and only steampunk convention immersed in a western themed town. This is a revolutionary re-invention of the standard hotel-based convention. Our event is within Old Tucson, a famous movie studio and amusement park built in 1939. For this weekend only, Old Tucson is transforming into the world’s only western-style Steampunk Theme Park!

Make sure you mark the date on the calendar.  I am a organizer/helper and volunteer and will also likely be a vendor at this event.

Thank You to the Steampunk Book Club

The Steampunk Book Club met on Wednesday night at Lux and invited me as their speaker/guest.  They also selected my book, The Travelers’s Club and the Ghost Ship for their book of the month.  Thanks to all you wonderful fellow Steampunk fans!  I hope you love the book.

Funny Video About Steampunk Rip-Offs

A lot of people are trying to make money off the Steampunk craze, but don’t really understand it.  For instance, goggles and gears.  Even in the Steampunk worlds, you wear goggles if you are on a steam powered motorbike, an airship, or other areas where your eyes need protecting.  You might wear them if they have night vision or zooms, but you don’t just wear them all the time for no reason.  The same with gears.  If you are a mechanic or inventor, you might very well keep extra gears and tools on you, sample kits, etc.  However, all Steampunk folks know that there is a purpose to your gear.  Steampunk wearers can tell you in great deal the function of their guns, tool kits, sample kits, flying backpacks, etc.

So here is the video making fun of people who just put gears on things, paint them bronze and trying to sell them on the internet:

Steampunk Murder Mystery Tonight!

We are gathering to find out who killed Arthur E. Faxe in 1897 in Egypt tonight as part of the Arizona Steampunk Society.  We are hosting at our humble estate.  Was it Terra Sunder?  Major General E.B. Sawtedd?  Lester A. Fayre?  Lady Melissa Lynke?  Anne T. Inkwitee?  Hamilton Mactorr?  Ashley R. Sonnyste? or Conrad Iver?  Tonight, 15 people will investigate the death and determine which of those eight people did the heinous crime.  Will much food and adult beverages be needed?  Definitely.  This event is by ticket only and is sold out, so unexpected visitors will be violated.

Tonight, I will be Lord Whyle A. Waye, and all dignity aside, here I am with my fox hunting horn:

Thanks Evermore Nevermore!!

A special thanks to Bob and his wife at Evermore Nevermore in Mesa.  They are located at 127 W. Main Street, Mesa, AZ.  Their phone number is:  480-964-4624     Evermore Nevermore is a very cool store with Steampunk, SciFi, comic books and all sorts of interesting items.  They also allowed me to do the book signing at the Steampunk Streets III for Second Fridays in Mesa  AND, even better, they will be selling copies of my book, The Travelers’ Club and the Ghost Ship in their store.  Please stop by, buy some stuff, and say hi to Bob for me.

Steampunk Street III Signing in Mesa

Friday night went great!  We met hundreds of fellow Steampunk fans and were lucky to be set up next to the Arizona Steampunk Society, of which I am a proud member, and a Steampunk band called Jellied Brainz that was very fun to listen to just a few spots down from us.  Vinnie Alascia joined me at the booth selling original copies of his books as well.  It was great to meet people, sign copies of The Travelers’ Club and the Ghost Ship and hand out bookmarks.  It also sparked some more Kindle sales, which is always nice.  I glad that I had a lot of friends at the event and the time went very quickly, even though we were there for close to six hours.  Thanks also to my wife for helping to set up and letting me use her car since my own has no space for anything.
